"The Beast Below"

Hi!

It's Olly here, back for another Doctor Who review!

I know I am super late since the second episode of series 5 was aired last Sunday the 9th of May, but boy was it good! With 'Liz 10', to the Doctor and Amy landing in the Beast's mouth!

Oh, and also, I can't add any more pics (or only a few) cause my family have almost reached their download limit, so don't expect like 10 photos only 2 or 3! So, here I go ...
It starts off with a line of children and a Smiler telling them 'good job'. When a small boy called Timmy goes up, the Smiler's face turns angry, saying "Bad boy, Timmy" and he then walks out of the room. His sister, Mandy, is worried that he got a 'Bad boy', he then can't go on the normal elevator, but has to go in his own. The floor then gives way and this is all we see of Timmy for now.

It then goes to Amy flying outside the TARDIS (with it's dark blue paint job), and the Doctor holding her ankle. She sees a strange ship below her and asks the Doctor what it is, he brings her back in explains that it is 'Starship UK' or 'Britain in the Sky' as the Doctor puts it. On the monitor Amy sees a girl crying, and the Doctor says "Let's go!" Amy stares at the monitor, asking questions to the Doctor, who is now, on the monitor. A suprised Amy then walks out of the TARDIS, into a red street, with people on bycycles, and various stalls. She then meets the Doctor and he asks her to realise whats wrong with the ship, anything. She says bycycles, and he points to her in her 'Nighty'. "Oh my god, I'm in my Nighty!" Amy says. The Doctor then takes a galss of water and puts it on the ground, looking at it for a second.

A man behind them, speaks into a comlink about the Doctor and the glass, the man at the other end calls a woman in a red robe, who, once finished with the call, puts on a white mask and walks out of the room.

The Doctor then shows Amy the crying girl, finding out that nobody wants to know her, they all know why she is crying. He sends Amy after her and goes to "Stay out if trouble, which I do, Badly."

Amy finds the girl by a big circus tent named 'Magpie electricals' if you notice, it's also from "The Idiot's Lantern" where it is a old-fashioned T.V. shop. The girl is called Mandy, and had notice the Doctor and Amy following her. Amy asks her about the Smilers, and she replies that the Smilers look over Starship UK. Amy goes into Magpie Electricals and encounters a strange beast, and once she has crawled out, is confronted by men in black robes and is knocked out.

Doesn't that shop look like an ice-cream store from up here?
The Doctor, meanwhile, is in the negine room, and is confronted by "Liz Ten" who is acting like Princess Leia, saying "Help us Doctor, you are our only hope" She realises that the Doctor knows that there are no engines and after a quick chat, she hands the Doctor a tracking device to lead him to Amy.

Amy wakes up in a room, and four T.V.'s are infront of her. She is shown a series of images about the true nature of Starship UK, she had to choose either to protest and blow the Starship up, or forget what she's seen, and, instantly, on her own will, she presses the forget button. A door opens and Mandy is there, telling Amy that everyone chooses the forget button. The Doctor arrives and "Brings down the government" by pressing the Protest button, and by doind so, the floor opens up and the Doctor and Amy are sucked in.

Doctor - Um, os that the garbage disposal?
They arrive in a strange place, very red,
with waste and junk beneath their feet. The Doctor explains that it is "Kind of a tongue", shocking Amy. He uses the (now green) sonic scredriver to activate the vomit process and Amy and the Doctor are vomited out.

They land in a room, and find Liz Ten, who exclaims about seeing the doctor who was "Nighted and Exiled on the same day" by Vicki (Queen Victoria, the Series 2 episode 'Tooth and Claw'). She is revealed as the queen, Elizabeth the 10th.
Oh yeah! Queen with a gun!
She takes them back to her rooms and explains to them her problem, how she has been on this case for 10 years and the Doctor finds out more in one afternoon. They are confronted by Smilers and are taken to the London tower.

Doctor - Look! I can make the ugly thing screech!
In the tower, with the help of Liz Ten's assistant Hawthrone, they realise the ship is being powered by a "Star Whale", the last of it's kind, and Liz Ten, every ten years, has been choosing to forget over then abdicate (which would set the star whale free and the Uk would die), and let them torture the star whale. Liz Ten is faced with the same decision now. The Doctor reveals the Star Whale's screaming with the sonic, and gets angry and won't let Amy comfort him. He has to choose between the Star Whale or the UK, what was he going to do? But an hour later, Amy works it out, she sees Mandy and her brother Tommy patting a star whale tail, and then realises something. She then grabs Liz's hand and presses the Abdicate button.

The Doctor is shocked, but suddenly suprised as Hawthorne says the speed is encreasing. Amy explains that the Star Whale didn't need to be tortured, it wanted to help. It was very old, and very kind, and the very very last of it's kind, and so it couldn't just stand there and watch children cry as the world burned.
Later, Amy explains to the Doctor that he was very old, very kind, and the very last of his kind, because he couldn't stand there and watch Mandy cry for her brother. "Gotcha" she says as she squeezes him tightly.
At the end of the episode, the TARDIS gets a call from Winsten Churchill, who has a Dalek next to him, and it also shows the recurring patern of "the Crack fo the Wall" on the side of Starship UK. It also shows a shot of the Star Whale, which isn't really a beast, it is quite peaceful.

A big hunk of rock (nuff' said).
This episode was great, and I loved the idea of "Liz Ten" Some favourite lines from the ep, "I'm the bloody queen mate, and basically, I rule!" and "The Scottish wanted their own ship"

I give this episode 4 out of 5 smileys
:) :) :) :)
So, Daleks in the next ep! I give you a hint, multi colour!

See you next time, Doctor Who Lovers!

"The Eleventh Hour"

Hi fellow Doctor Who fans!

The first episode of Doctor Who Series 5 has been released in NZ last Sunday (2nd of May)!
I really enjoyed this one, and I love the new companion 'Amy Pond', but this new Doctor is very dark, darker then David Tennant, but this episode had so many jokes i fell off the couch laughing!

I will give all you that may have missed it a run through,

The Doctor is newly regenerated, and the TARDIS is in flames, crashing into the earth, but the Doctor manages to land the police box, in the garden of a around 5 year old girl, Amelia Pond.

At the time of the crashing, Amelia is praying to Santa to fix the mysterious crack in her bedroom wall, that she thinks is not an ordinary crack. Seeing the police box, she thinks Santa has sent her someone to help her, saying "Thank you, Santa" she takes a torch and goes to explore the police box. The Doctor pops out, saying he fell into the swimming pool in the library, Amelia is confused, but lets the Doctor (who has a craving for apples, and is quite shocked about it) into her house. She gives him an apple, but after one bite he hates it, then yogurt, hates that too, and then the Doctor is quite rude saying to Amelia "Your Scottish, fry something". She cooks him some bacon, he spits it out, then beans, it goes in the sink with the Doctor saying "bad, bad, beans", when offered bread and butter, he throws it into the backyard. He then decides he wants fish fingers dipped in custard,

and then remarks that the crack in Amelia's wall must be pretty scary. Once finished with the meal, the Doctor takes Amelia up to her room, and opens the crack in her wall with his sonic. It reveals a giant eye, and a deep voice. The Doctor then closes it up, and he and Amelia rush to the yard, he promises Amelia that he will be gone 5 minutes and to pack a bag. He then leaves in the TARDIS to no one knows where, and Amelia sits outside, waiting.

When the Doctor returns, it is morning and he goes to explore the house and is knocked out by a cricket bat.

When he wakes up, he is sitting in front of a dashing policewoman, with flaming red hair. He is handcuffed to a heater and the two start to debate. She says Amelia Pond hadn't lived in that house for 6 months. He then tells her to count the rooms on the second floor, and she does. But then he tells her to notice the door, the door out of the corner of her eye, and when she does, even though the Doctor tells her no, she enters the room. Inside she is shocked to find the sonic

screwdriver up on top of a crate. Then, she is confronted by a monster (prisoner 0), and instantly runs out of the room. She hands the Doctor the sonic, and he unlocks the handcuffs as she reveals that her uniform is a fake and that she is really a kiss-o-gram. They then escape and they are then locked out of the TARDIS, he exclaims that he crashed into the shed, when he crashed in Amelia's garden, then he licks it, and realises he has been gone 12 years, and then questions Amy about it until she screams at him "WHY DID YOU SAY 5 MINUTES!" She then reveals herself as Amelia Pond, now Amy Pond, the girl that bit 4 physcologists when they told her the Doctor wasn't real. They then realise that they have 20 minutes to save the world from the Atraxi, who will burn the planet if they don't find prisoner 0.
But Amy locks his tie in a car saying "Why should I believe you!" To prove he was real, he shows her an apple she gave him 12 years ago, with a smiley face on it, it was as fresh as the day he gave it to her, so she unlocks the car for him.

They then track down Amy's boyfriend who has a picture of the man and dog prisoner 0 is impersonating. The Doctor and Rory (the boyfriend) both realise that the man is in a hospital, in a coma. The Doctor tried to use his sonic to attract the Atraxi ship to prisoner 0 but it explodes up in the process.

While Amy and Rory head for the hospital, the Doctor goes back to Amy's friend's house and contacts a major call through all the world's major leaders. He tells them at 11:51, they should set all clocks back to 00:00, to contact all their workers, for them to contact everyone they knew and so on. He then hijacks a firetruck and goes to meet Amy at the hospital.

Amy and her Rory are being confronted by prisoner 0 in the form of a woman and two girls.

The Doctor arrives, and the two aliens confront each other. Just as the Atraxi are about to blow up the planet at 11:51, all clocks in the world turns to one number, 0. The Atraxi manages to track down prisoner 0, but as it starts to teleport, Prisoner 0 transforms into the young Amelia Pond, but the Doctor makes Amy think of what she saw in the room, the room out of the corner of her eye, and Prisoner 0 starts to impersonate itself. The Atraxi teleports Prisoner 0 away. But the Doctor calls them back, and after a quick change meets them on the roof.

He confronts the Atraxi ship, and warns it never to come to earth again.

The TARDIS key starts to glow, and the Doctor rushes back to the TARDIS to take a trip to the moon and back, promising Amy five minutes again, leaving Amy behind.

2 years later, the Doctor arrives. Amy is in her dressing gown, and is extremely pissed off with him. She wanted him to come back but he never came. He lets her in the TARDIS, and she sees the new inside design, quite wowing, I must say. She agrees to come with him, and near towards the end of the episode, a picture of the crack in the wall appears on the Doctor's monitor. Amy asks the Doctor if he can bring her back in time for 'stuff' and he agrees. Then a new green sonic screwdriver pops out of the TARDIS console, a new change for the Doctor.

As they leave, the screen changes to a scene of Amy's bedroom, and the Wedding Dress she has for her wedding tomorrow, I wonder what that 'stuff' she mentioned was about?

I loved this episode, new title sequence that I love, thought it had great thrills, a dark side, funny jokes, and a bit of mystery. This episode left me wanting more, needing to know what will happen next.

Great episode, I give it 4 smileys out of 5.

Hi

Hello, one and all!
It's me, Oliver again.

I am so sorry that i haven't blogged for the last year, Doctor Who only had five episodes!
But the 2009 specials were indeed good, but sad, very sad.

This post is about them, but I will soon post a preview of the New Doctor Who containing Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor!
The first episode has now aired in NZ on the 2nd of May, 2010, the episode was called "The Eleventh Hour!"
I will post about every episode, and give a little bit about it, and then my thoughts.

The 2009 specials were great!
From "The Next Doctor" with Jackson Lake, his "Sonic" Screwdriver, and the Cybermen.
To "Planet of the Dead" with the dashing Lady Christina, the StingRays, and the whole UNIT team!
Next "The Waters of Mars" with the water monsters, and Adelaide killing herself!
Then "The End of Time" Parts 1 and 2, oh so sad, with Wilfred, the Master, the TimeLords, the wonderous woman, and David Tennants regeneration, it truly was the greatest doctor who episode of all time!

Speaking of "The End of Time", I have an action figure update, the new Giftset includes a very torn down Tenth Doctor, the Eleventh Doctor, the Master, and the Head of the TimeLord Council with his staff.

Now, I will give you the best of the best photos from 2009, this is new, I will do this every year, a photo recap of the series.
So, here we go ...

"David Tennant has mad the role his own, brilliantly, with grace, talent and persistent dedication. I hope to learn by the standards set by him. The challenge for me is to do justice to the show's illustrious past, my predecessors, and most importantly, to those who watch it. I really cannot wait." While the lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat said: "The Doctor is a very special part, and it takes a very special actor to play him. Proof That The Master Will Return.

Do you remember the Master's drumming beat? DUH DUH DUH DUH, DUH DUH DUH DUH. Well in series 4 there is proof that the Master will return because in "The Unicorn And The Wasp" the record player plays the Master's tune as the Doctor and Donna walk into the party hosted by Lady Edeson. Also in "The Stolen Earth" when Sylvia Nobles laptop turns itself on it plays the tune again. I am hoping to see the Master appear in series 5 or 6, do you?

Donna The Human Time Lord

Confusing Timelord tricks! The Doctor puts his regeneration energy into his hand to stop the regeneration going all the way. Donna touched and WHAM!!!!!!!!!! another Doctor is born with Donna's DNA!!!!!!!!!!! So "new Doctor" is half human half Timelord, he can't regenerate and he only has one heart! But Donna also got a whiff of Timelord, she now has the Doctor's brain! The "DoctorDonna" (which the Ood had called it) had been born! But poor Donna, there can't be a human with a Timelord brain because there can't be so the Doctor had to wipe Donna's memory of everything about him. Sniff! Sniff!
